Purple Rain (Cut)

Wembley Arena, London, June 19, 1990

The legendary 16-night Nude Tour at London's Wembley Arena. It was a Guinness-worthy live performance, selling 200,000 tickets, beating the record set by Dire Straits. Unfortunately, the soundboard recording only covers the first 21 minutes, but it still delivers impressive sound quality and performance. However, it's a bold addition, in a sense. The main focus of this release is actually the complete recording of the high-quality audience on the first day of the record-breaking London performance. The sound quality here is also excellent. It's just as immersive compared to the soundboard recording. Perhaps knowing that the first half was being recorded for record purposes, Prince and his band played with incredible energy. They belted out hit after hit without a hitch, even playing Batdance and Partyman. The highlight was the jam of Baby I'm A Star in the second half. They seem to play a lot of unconventional songs at each live show, but this one was particularly impressive. They meticulously played Baby I'm A Star and Rosie's Respect. Just when it seemed like they were finished, they added another kick drum! They extended the set even further with Michael B. Rosie sang the original lyrics of We Can Funk, and even played a very loose version of Irresistible Bitch.
