Sabotage also toured frequently with ONA during their time here, but this remastered edition of the Milan performance from their legendary ONA European tour, which even the now-defunct Premium label never released, is here. With no live performances in Italy since the 1990 Nude Tour, this explosive performance stands out among the many European tour releases. Sheila E.'s guest appearances are especially noteworthy, especially on "Xenophobia," where Maceo's percussive drumming and superb blowing are the highlights. This is the best performance of the many versions. And on "The Work," Candy Dulfer, not to be outdone by Maceo, adds a sexy saxophone lick to the funk. Prince was also in high spirits, giving plenty of MC time between songs in front of the Italian audience. Of course, the band's unity was evident throughout the performance. On "The Everlasting Now," Sheila E.'s funky percussion led the way, while John Blackwell showed off his impressive drumming skills. Jeff Beck's bassist Rhonda Smith's groovy bassline combined to create a sound that really gets you in the lower body. The soft piano set was played lightly, and the final song, Days Of Wild, was simply the best. It was amazing how just having Sheila E. there made such a difference in the performance.
