This time, we're releasing V2, using the Diamonds and Love recordings. "Love 2 the 9's" is an early version with fewer effects, but with a different guitar and vocals. "Arrogance" is a more complete version with guitar cutting and Tony M's rap. Then there's the long version of "The Flow," with cheers that draw the audience in. And then there's "3 Chains O' Gold," an early version featuring strings and horns, but Prince's singing style leans more toward ephemerality than power, resulting in a beautiful version.

And then there are the outtakes, which are a series of shocks. First, there's the earliest version of "Race." Recorded at the Record Plant on November 8, 1991, the lead vocals are none other than Tony M. This version begins with a sample of Miles Davis talking about Prince and includes a verse that was also used on "Things Have Gotta Change," recorded a few days earlier. While reminiscent of Heavy D & the Boys' "Now That We Found Love," it's also Prince's own take on hip-hop.

Then there's "Rave Church Style," an arrangement of "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" from late 1991 to 1992. It features a full horn arrangement and a vocal sample of "Rock the House," which was also used in concert. It's a powerful track, reminiscent of the jamming of "Baby I'm A Star" from the 1990 Nude Tour and reminiscent of the live version from "Small Club." It also features the 1988 version, with Bonnie Boyer's shouting. A slightly lower volume version with almost no fade-in is also included.

This is Prince's version of "Uncle Sum," which he provided to Tevin Campbell, but it's a longer version than the one listed below.

"Baby Doll" was recorded at Studio 301 in Sydney, Australia, from late April to early May 1992. This track was recorded during the Diamonds and Pearls tour in Sydney, with additional recording likely added at Olympic Studios on June 23, 1992. The lyrics were written by Australian pop singer Kylie Minogue, and the song was originally written for her. However, Kylie never recorded the song; instead, a full-band version with Prince on lead vocals is included. Had Kylie sung the song and it been included on the album, it would undoubtedly have been a hit. It's an elegant piece of pop-funk that would make Chic's Nile Rodgers jealous.

"Face 2 Face" was recorded in mid-1992. It's a typical Prince take on hip-hop, utilizing the drum pattern from "Forever In My Life" and sampling his own song. In fact, Prince's handwritten lyrics were auctioned in 1921, and at the time, investigations concluded that the song had never been recorded. The lyrics also include lyrics from the later album "Space," suggesting it could have been intended for a later album.

Prince's version of Mayte's "Baby Don't Care," "Holly Don't Care," has a slightly longer version with slightly poorer sound quality, and this is the one included here. And "In the Middle of the Night," recorded in the summer of 1992, is a short song, but its very pop melody raises the possibility of a truly finished version. "Remember Me," from the same period, is a beautiful mid-tempo ballad. It has a demo-like quality, and perhaps Prince wanted to release this one as a truly finished version.

"Extraordinary," recorded at Paisley Park in September 1992, is listed as a live recording, but it definitely feels like an alternate version. It was also planned to be included as the third track on Disc 2 of Rosie Gaines' "Concrete Jungle" and "Emancipation," but ultimately ended up on "The Vault Old Friends 4 Sale."

And then there's "Dream," whose closing line is so beautiful you'll want to listen to it over and over again and lose sleep. This demo was probably recorded between October 1991 and mid-1992. The drum pattern is from "When 2r In Love," and honestly, I think it would have been a great ballad with hit potential even if it had been released as is. It's a wonderful interpretation of a sample that only Prince could have come up with.

https://worldmusiclover.com/es/products/prince-new-power-generation-love-symbol-1992-march-configuration-v2-2cdr
