While these tracks have been released before, they have often been fragmented or of poor quality, with the best being Sabotage's Purple Rush Vol. 2. Even Sabotage had edited the existing recordings, cut out parts, and suffered from sound quality issues such as hiss. This Free Boot Generation release is completely hiss-free, superbly remastered, and includes all the tracks without editing, even though there are some distortions in the sound. This is the best complete release yet! The album features the splendor of the early version of \"Let's Go Crazy\" including the MC intro, a fresh cover of \"A Case Of You,\" the unfinished feel of \"Computer Blue,\" the driving feel of \"Delirious,\" a rehearsal version of the beautiful melody of the early masterpiece \"Electric Intercourse,\" \"I Would Die 4 U\" before it even became a jam, \"Baby I'm A Star,\" and \"Purple Rain\" played with passion, the best D.M.S.R. with superb guitar cutting throughout, and Sly's \"Africa Talks To You\" and funky instrumentals...there's a barrage of serious playing that doesn't feel like a rehearsal, the clash of ideas, and the precious rehearsal with Wendy's participation.
