I'M THE SLIME

This is a reissue of a rare title from a handmade label by collectors for collectors, which was distributed only in very limited quantities. While copies quickly circulate these days, this item is an officially licensed reissue from a master copy.

This is a live recording of the Mothers of Invention during the time of Frank Zappa and the highly popular Terry Bozzio. While Zappa's bands tend to be large, this one has a relatively small lineup. The only brass instrument is Napoleon Murphy's saxophone. Over Terry Bozzio's intricate drumming, a rock-infused performance unfolds. Napoleon Murphy, the only wind instrument player, is heavily featured and shines on the album's title track, "Revenge of Changa." Solos then take place for each instrument, resulting in a powerful performance lasting over 16 minutes. As always, the performance unfolds with impressive precision under Zappa's command, and "Muffin Man," which serves as the band's introduction and is the usual closing song of this period, is superb. While Zappa's guitar would later adopt a clean tone through the Synclavier from the 1980s onward, here you can enjoy the distorted sound of his SG. Although it's an audience recording, the sound quality is so high it surpasses even soundboard recordings. The audience's cheers also add a nice touch, encouraging Zappa and creating a great atmosphere.

https://worldmusiclover.com/ja/products/frank-zappa-and-the-mothers-of-invention-palace-theater-1975-2cdr
