★★★Rainbow: 3 Recordings from January 22, 1978 at the Budokan! ★★★
◉ All Mastering by ENIGMA!!!
★★★The unexpected new recording was from the "Cozy Powell Show"!!!
That's the first recording on this album, "Touch and Fire": the Black Purple Tapes. As the accompanying reissue ticket tells us, Mr. Black Purple dashed from Row B of the arena right before Richie, tape recorder in hand. This complete album complements the first recording with tracks 2 and 3.
So, track 1 perfectly captures the destructive atmosphere at the front of the stage at Rainbow's 1978 concert. The insults and sounds of destruction on the day are vivid, and the state of the venue after the show is also a must-listen! Recorded directly underneath the stage, Cozy's bass drum and guitar are vividly captured. This is a realistic documentary that you won't get to hear on the Peach recordings.
Sound Source 2 was created by re-examining the master cassette of the classic "Cozy Powell Show" recorded by Mr. Peach, and complemented with Sound Sources 1 and 3. ENIGMA mastering has resulted in a completely different product from "Cozy Powell Show."
And now, Sound Source 3. Mr. Peach had two recorders running on the day in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
