I KNOW WHAT I LIKE

The "Mike Millard Tapes," recorded by Mike Millard, a taper familiar to fans for his exceptional audience recording skills, are now available. While several recordings using the Mike Millard Tapes as masters have been released by the same label, you may have noticed that there are two types: the "Brushed Mike Millard Tapes" and the "Legendary Mike Millard Tapes." Not all Mike Millard Tapes have perfect sound quality; some require significant editing and improvement. The "Brushed" series features significantly improved versions. The "Legendary" series consists of recordings that were already nearly perfect with little room for improvement, and only minor edits such as slight cuts between tracks are made.

This time, Genesis's 1978 album "And Three Remained" tour is featured in the "Brushed" edition. While minimal equalization has been applied, meticulous attention has been paid to volume levels, especially due to the loud noises from the audience. Furthermore, several slight gaps in the audio, likely caused by the digitization process, have been corrected. Between tracks, Phil's talk is left uncut, and audience screams, squeals, and shouts have been trimmed to a natural extent. On top of all that, the original dynamics of the performance are brought to the forefront, conveying the overall power of the live performance. As the album title suggests, the official members are Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks, and Phil Collins, but in live performances, Chester Thompson, who has been with them since the previous tour, and Daryl Starmer, making his debut as guitarist, serve as support members. These five will continue to form the foundation of Genesis and form a long-lasting collaborative partnership. Daryl Starmer, in particular, has been remarkably active as Phil Collins' right-hand man, and his presence in Genesis surpasses even Mike Rutherford's. Compared to his predecessor, Steve Hackett, his playing is more hard rock-oriented. The transition from the drum duet between Phil and Chester that flows from "Dance on a Volcano" to the relentless "Loss and Loss" is a highlight of the live performance, truly exhilarating.

https://worldmusiclover.com/zh/products/genesis-brushed-mike-millard-tape-live-at-the-forum-1978-2cdr
