The Necromancer series, which reissues rare titles from a handmade label by collectors for collectors that was only distributed in very limited quantities, using officially acquired, legitimate masters, now features Headless Hawk, a top-tier collector's label in the jazz genre.

Derek Trucks, who seems to have been henpecked by Susan, leaving fans with a somewhat unsatisfied impression, is the subject of this original compilation album produced by the Headless Hawk label, a fantastic item that will relieve that frustration. This album focuses on "jazz cover songs" performed live by the Derek Trucks Band, before it became the Tedeschi Trucks Band, and all tracks are instrumental. Derek's signature slide playing, a hallmark of the young guitar prodigy, is on full display, as is his intricate and precise fingerwork. The album also showcases the band's high level of musicianship and groove, making it a truly enjoyable listen. Many of the songs were written by saxophonists such as Coltrane, Roland Kirk, Sonny Rollins, and Wayne Shorter, which makes sense considering Derek himself has stated he was influenced by Coltrane's saxophone solos. Coltrane's signature tracks, "Afro Blue" and "My Favorite Things," are also performed with great passion. While all are audience recordings, the sound quality is excellent, making this a must-have album that can be enjoyed even by non-fans.
