This second installment is the "Alternate Collection = Black Edition" of Queen II, the second album released in 1974 and widely acclaimed as Queen's masterpiece. This 2026 special edition is a 3-disc set (2 CDs & DVD) featuring newly edited remixes of all tracks, alternative remixes, single versions, rarities, and video collection footage. CD1 contains all tracks from the album in a completely new "multiplex stereo remix" edited from the multitracks. With a more realistic sound image than the finished version with overdubs, it features raw vocals emphasized in the single tracks, different guitar phrases in different mixes, and is an alternate album with remixes completely different from the usual stereo mix. CD2 contains a "reconstruction remix" with a different edit from CD1, reconstructed from the multitracks. These are unique remixes that are clearly different from "multiplex stereo remixes," not only because the stereo separation of vocals and instruments is different, but also because chorus, guitar, piano, etc. that are usually buried are featured in some songs. The latter half of each CD includes "Singles and Rarities," which are additional standalone versions and remixes of songs that were crossfaded on the album.
The DVD contains album-related videos compiled by section. The "Complete Video Album" is a newly edited and updated video compilation that uses various videos to visualize all the songs on the album according to its concept. "Top of the Pops Versions" includes five different versions, from the 1974 BBC television broadcast version of "Seven Seas of Rhye" that was unearthed years later, to the unedited version that was not broadcast, and a re-edited version that combines all the versions. "Promotional Videos and Rarities" is a newly edited video collection totaling over 100 minutes, featuring a 2026 re-edited video version, various videos of "Seven Seas of Rhye" from later video compilations, and even private film footage capturing Queen's first North American tour in 1974 as the opening act for Mott the Hoople. As a true "alternate collection," it's an unprecedentedly comprehensive collector's item for 2026, released simultaneously with the "White Edition" of "Queen II"!
