The real deal from the "Old Friends" 2009 Japan tour, three Tokyo shows, is here! The July 10th and July 11th Tokyo Dome shows, as well as the July 15th Budokan extra show, are all recorded with superb audience recordings that will move fans to tears. These three ultra-high-quality titles, meticulously remastered from the exclusive original masters, offer the extraordinary content you'd expect from the XAVEL label, which claims to offer the ultimate in audience recordings. This release, "Saudades Tokyo Part-1," features the performance at the Tokyo Dome on July 10th, the first show in Tokyo of the second Japan tour. It features a high-quality master recorded at the front of the arena and then digitally remastered in 24-bit. The remastering focused on capturing the direct sound of the band, centered around Paul and Art's vocals. The closeness and clarity of the sound image make it hard to believe it was recorded at the dome. This exceptional quality sets it apart from the recordings from the same day available on certain torrent sites. The set list, just like the Nagoya premiere, kicked off with an instrumental version of "America" as the opening sound effect and "Old Friends." It was a blissful two-hour set featuring a succession of gems, skillfully varying the tempo. Songs like "America," "Scarborough Fair," and "Bridges Over Troubled Water" are sure to tug at the heartstrings of every listener, bringing tears to their eyes. The video montage of the couple's upbringing in "59th Street Bridge Song" following "Homeward Bound" was a thoughtful touch, highlighting the moving performance of the following "Mrs. Robinson."
