This 2-CD set features the original stereo and mono versions of The Beatles' 1960s American compilation album, "Yesterday and Today," as well as new alternate mixes, rare mixes, outtakes, and session recordings! This special collector's edition, newly released by DAP, perfectly recreates four cover art styles, from the heralded butcher cover to the legendary purple trunk cover! Four different cover art styles are available, along with a brand new imported pressing.

"Yesterday and Today" is one of the most highly anticipated and unique albums released by Capitol Records in the US, featuring a unique compilation style distinct from the 1960s UK releases. Not only did it spark controversy immediately after its release, but the shocking cover change from the "butcher cover" led to numerous mix variations in order to include new tracks from "Revolver" before the UK release, making it a fascinating collector's item not to be missed. CD 1 contains the original stereo and mono albums on analog audio. Unlike remastered CDs with a unified sound source, this disc faithfully reproduces the texture and subtle mix differences unique to analog recordings. Additionally, it includes "Alternate Versions," which compare numerous mix variations from the UK and US, including the uniquely American "pseudo-stereo" mix released in the early '60s and replaced in the '70s. CD 2 features "Yesterday and Today" in its latest edited alternate mixes. This updated version compiles pre-overdubbed naked mixes re-edited from multitrack recordings and newly edited remixes from the digital era. Also included is "Studio Outtakes/Sessions," which compiles rare recordings of album tracks. Furthermore, "Alternate Mixes" chronologically presents alternate mixes from US compilation albums from the '70s onward.

[Collector's Point]
CD 1's stereo and mono albums feature transfers from the master vinyl to faithfully reproduce the original analog sound. This disc reproduces a different analog sound source from the digitally remastered CD that was replaced with a unified sound source. The three tracks "I'm Only Sleeping," "Dr. Robert," and "And Your Bird Can Sing," which were sent to the U.S. to be recorded as new tracks from "Revolver" prior to their release in the U.K., all feature mixes that differ from the U.K. stereo and mono versions. In particular, "I'm Only Sleeping" features four different guitar effects in the U.K. and U.S. stereo and mono versions, while "Dr. Robert" features John's "OK Herb" at the end, which is only available in the U.S. mono version. Furthermore, these three tracks were originally recorded in a "pseudo-stereo" mix, and all three are included here to allow listeners to compare these twists and turns in the mixes. The "Yesterday and Today" alternate remix album on CD2 is an updated version that compiles remixes re-edited from multi-tracks that cannot be heard on the official stereo mono recordings alone. It includes naked mixes that break down John's favorite vocal overdubs of "I'm Only Sleeping," "Dr. Robert," and "And Your Bird Can Sing," as well as new digital-era edited mixes of "Drive My Car" and "Nowhere Man," all of which are interesting, newly edited alternate mixes.
