This is the latest live recording from Ana Popovich. Soundboard recording. While her appeal lies in her robust blues guitar playing, this live performance is funky and soulful. The opening instrumental on Disc 1, typical of blues live shows where the backing band warms up before the maestro appears, is pure 70s funk. Jeremy Thomas' organ is particularly effective. Her singing and playing with such a band as her backing is reminiscent of Freddie King. Rather than pure blues, this live performance offers a slightly urban, funky blues experience.
