This is a live recording from the 1985 US tour—specifically a show in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 5th—held to coincide with the release of the debut album by The Firm, a "supergroup" that formed in 1985 and disbanded after about a year and a half. Formed by Jimmy Page (following the breakup of Led Zeppelin) and the highly talented vocalist Paul Rodgers (known for Free and Bad Company), the band garnered massive attention and achieved great success during its brief existence; it has since attained legendary status. The sound quality here is impeccable—truly outstanding. It is best described as a perfect blend of Led Zeppelin and Bad Company, impressing the listener with its stability and high level of musical perfection. The acoustic numbers in the middle of the set are particularly superb. Rather than one member dominating the sound, Page and Rodgers play seamlessly as a unified group; this sense of cohesion generates a powerful energy, resulting in a magnificent performance. The sound is truly exceptional. The Firm released only two studio albums officially, and recordings are rarely found even on the bootleg market. Although this is an audience recording, the performance itself is captured so clearly—and seemingly from such close range—that for a moment you might mistake it for a soundboard recording; it offers outstanding clarity and a vivid sense of presence.
