This Blu-ray features a professional recording of the performance at Yokohama Stadium in Yokohama, Japan, on September 26, 1987—part of Michael Jackson's first-ever solo world tour and his debut tour in Japan. His arrival in the country generated a media frenzy comparable to that of The Beatles. A total of 14 shows were performed; the footage here captures the eighth concert of the tour. While this performance is a staple among Michael's video releases, the original source was an analog recording from 39 years ago, resulting in inherent image graininess. For this release, we applied state-of-the-art restoration processes: upconverting the footage from standard definition to Full HD, performing extensive color correction, and fixing audio dropouts. To achieve a widescreen presentation, we placed a blurred widescreen-formatted background behind the original analog-aspect-ratio footage, allowing you to enjoy this powerful, legendary performance with stable, high-quality visuals.
