A well-known and unforgettable bootleg of classic vinyl albums for longtime Beatles collectors, "File Under" was a historic release that shocked Beatles collectors worldwide in the 1980s by featuring previously unreleased recordings, ushering in the CD era's "Ultra Rare Tracks" and later "Anthology."

While some of these recordings have now been included on "Anthology" and other releases, there are differences in mixes and unique edits, even for the same takes, making "File Under" truly a must-see. This two-CD release features the original master recording of "File Under" and the subsequently released "File Under Vol. 2," an expanded edition featuring the same content plus additional tracks, as well as an extra edition featuring many tracks not included on the original album and different mixes, all digitally remastered and upgraded in 2017.

All of the audio used for this release has been upgraded from the original '80s recordings, and every track has been significantly upgraded in quality. The difference is clear when compared to previous vinyl releases and subsequent CDs of the same content, making this truly the definitive master recording.

"File Under" shocked Beatles collectors worldwide in the '80s by featuring previously unreleased Beatles material for the first time. The album includes the later planned but unreleased "Sessions," the "Boardroom Tapes," secretly recorded in an EMI conference room and the first unreleased Beatles recordings to be heard on acetate discs, which would later see the light of day as "Anthology," as well as recordings from the "Get Back Sessions." These rare, unreleased recordings became bestsellers, with numerous copies subsequently circulating. However, most of the recordings that attracted attention at the time were incompletely edited or in mono, and their value diminished with the release of "Sessions" a few years later, when the "Boardroom Tapes" recordings were recorded in high quality and officially released on "Anthology." However, this release goes back even further than the original master recordings, featuring the same takes but with different mixes with different stereo separations, and converting the mono "Get Back Sessions" to stereo, capturing the original master recordings in the highest quality available. This is a significant upgrade compared to the vinyl version and the later "Sessions" album, and feels like a different era. The expanded edition also includes additional tracks, such as real stereo remixes from the film "Let It Be" and never-before-seen remixes. The extra edition also includes tracks not included in the main album, including many different mixes of the same take with different stereo separations. You can also hear alternate mixes of tracks from subsequent "Sessions" and "Anthology" albums, such as a real stereo version of "That Means a Lot," which was pseudo-stereo on the official "Anthology" album.
