The final installment of the DAP label's "Get Back Masters" series, which compiled the Beatles' Get Back sessions, which took place in January 1969, is "Let It Be: The Last Sessions." The "Get Back Sessions," which documented the recording sessions accompanied by filming, moved from Twickenham Studios to Apple Studios and ended with a rooftop concert. The album "Get Back," produced by Glyn Johns, was subsequently produced, but its release was postponed and canceled. It was entrusted to Phil Spector and released as The Beatles' final album, "Let It Be," in 1970. Previously, the DAP label's "GET BACK MASTERS" series of newly remastered stereo recordings has included the Apple Studios edition (8CDs), the complete Rooftop Concert edition (3CDs), and the Twickenham Studios edition (8CDs). This latest release, "The Last Sessions," brings together the original acetates from the "Let It Be" album, additional sessions, film soundtrack material, and various mixes. This collection follows the process that followed the Get Back sessions. The first release, "GLYN JOHN'S ORIGINAL REFERENCE ACETATE," is commonly known as "KUM BACK," and includes all of the first mixes, familiar from classic vinyl bootlegs. These were originally cut as acetates, not for release, but as reference mixes for the band members to take home and listen to. These recordings differ in sound processing and editing from the later album "GET BACK" by Glyn Johns, and are not even included in the DX edition, which can only be heard here. Although many releases have been made so far, this is a newly remastered version with noise processing. The following "DIFFERENT MIXES COLLECTION" brings together various recordings that have been released since the Get Back sessions, with modifications, overdubs, and remixes added. Included are the soundtrack for the film "LET IT BE," different mixes by John Barrett and Anthology, as well as officially unreleased recordings such as orchestral overdubs and acetate mixes for the album "LET IT BE." This is an original edited collection of complementary sound sources that forms the final installment of the "GET BACK MASTERS" series, including "I Me Mine" and "Across the Universe," which were added when the album was changed from "GET BACK" to "LET IT BE," as well as the orchestral overdubs added by Phil Spector, which could be considered the "final session."
