"Soul Train," a TV program that symbolizes the golden age of Black music in the 1970s. Here is the first in a best-of compilation series compiling rare performances from its precious on-air footage. Featuring Southern soul giant Bobby Womack, Motown's funky band Junior Walker & All-Stars, disco-soul diva Thelma Houston, and Mr. Soul, Wilson Pickett, New Soul peacemaker Curtis Mayfield, the fiery Latin groove of War, the popular Northern Soul three-woman group Honeycorn, Eddie Kendricks (solo artist after The Temptations), Gladys Knight and the Isley Brothers singing their early hits... The two-hour program also includes subtitles and features other highlights such as The O'Jays' classic "The Traitor's Theme," rare early recordings of Millie Jackson, former Spinners member GC Cameron, and hits from The Intruders' golden age in the 1960s.
