"Soul Train," a TV program that symbolizes the golden age of Black music in the 1970s. This is the 9th installment of the best compilation series, compiling rare performances from its precious on-air footage. And once again, it's a fantastic lineup, featuring Philadelphia funk band Gamble & Huff's People's Choice, true blues from Bobby Bland and BB King, the talented disco band Ecstasy Passion And Pain, the familiar funk giants Ohio Players, Brooklyn's hit funk band B.T. Express, the Isley Brothers where you can fully appreciate the power of a live band, Al Green in his prime during the period when he had six consecutive R&B albums at No. 1 on the charts, Greg Perry, the composer and renowned vocalist behind the Northern Soul masterpiece One For The Road, Dionne Warwick who also performed a disco number, the Philly soul powerhouse The Futures where all members take the lead, the wild and powerful funk band Mandrill, and even Elton John who tried his hand at disco tunes—once again, it's a treasure trove of black music, totaling 115 minutes.
