Secret Bonus High Fashion(Long Version)
July 1983 Reheasal
The master recordings of a July 1983 rehearsal, during which Prince worked day and night with his band Revolution to achieve his true superstar status, have finally come into the light of day. The Bird's 24-minute intensive training session feels more like Prince's own funk experiment than The Bird itself, revealing a treasure trove of ideas as Prince leads the band in search of the ultimate performance. And Baby I'm A Star, a track striving for further development, showcases the moment when the performance is repeatedly tweaked to evolve into an even more magnificent song! Two interesting versions of Let's Go Crazy combine studio-quality polish with a touch of playfulness, while the instrumental part of Computer Blue is so clear and polished it almost feels like a studio recording. The G-Spot, with its signature keyboards and Linn drums, is a truly Prince-inspired take, gracefully complemented by piano harmonies and Prince's vocals! And while there are still no studio recordings, these are truly studio recordings: two versions of "Electric Intercourse," and two versions of "Purple Rain" that, if cleverly combined, would create a longer version. These astonishing soundboard recordings give the illusion of being performed and practiced right there! And some of the songs are so polished they could almost be called studio recordings! They're as moving as the live sound of the Small Club! And as a secret bonus, we've included a candid shot of The Family's "High Fashion," which is believed to be the extended version! Once you hear it, you'll be convinced it's Prince's original! This take is likely the acetate version, but it's High Fashion, which contains the ultimate extended portion that could be called the extended version!
