This collection compiles previously unreleased recordings from Queen's later period, spanning the 80s and 90s. It includes first-time releases of multitrack recordings from the original masters, as well as demo tracks, unreleased numbers, and alternate soundtrack versions. This highly recommended fifth installment captures the band's mature period, from the album "A Kind of Magic" to "The Miracle."
VOL. 5 begins with a drumless version of "Hammer to Fall," different from the previous installment. This version highlights each instrument and vocal more clearly. Following that is the movie version of "Prince of the Universe," including sound effects, and a uniquely edited version of "Gimme the Price." "Who Wants to Live Forever" features Freddie's vocals on the intro instead of Brian's. "The Miracle" and "I Want It All" are never-before-seen original mixes made possible by the multi-track recordings, offering remixes unlike the usual versions. The numerous demo versions included here are all tracks not featured in the latest remastered official releases, with unreleased tracks such as "Dog with the Bone" and "I Guess Were Falling Out" being particularly unmissable. While some of these demo recordings have circulated in the past with poor sound quality, the ones included here are carefully selected from high-generation sources, making this a must-listen for fans. Finally, there's a new remix of the moving "The Show Must Go On" from the multi-track recordings. Just like the previous installments in the series, this fifth volume features only tracks that are not officially included on albums or have not been selected as bonus tracks on official remasters, making it a must-have "deep" selection of rare tracks for any Queen collector!
