First, a tribute to Sonny Rollins, who passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on May 25, 2026.
This is a live recording from 1979 by a quartet. Originally an audience recording, it has been remastered and boasts quite good sound quality. There were some minor issues, such as one channel being weaker in places, but these have been carefully restored. Rollins delivers a pop-influenced performance of Stevie Wonder's "ISN'T SHE LOVELY," and enjoys a Lyricon solo on Coltrane's "IMPRESSIONS," making this one of Rollins' more electric-oriented live performances. The drummer is Al Foster, one of the most important figures in Miles Davis's electric band.
