"The Beatles Anthology" celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2025. From 1995 to 1996, a large-scale documentary project was undertaken, featuring the release of new Beatles songs and albums based on John Lennon's remaining compositions, a book, and a video documentary in which the members themselves recount the entire history of the Beatles. This was later released on DVD. Now, to commemorate the 30th anniversary, new unreleased audio has been released, along with a new video documentary. The approximately 9-hour documentary footage, restored and refurbished with the latest technology, boasts significantly improved picture and sound quality compared to the previous video footage, resulting in breathtakingly beautiful high-definition. The content has also been altered through new editing, shortening the runtime but adding new scenes, making it fun to spot the differences. This ultimate documentary, complete with subtitles, traces the trajectory of the Beatles, from episodes before their formation, the meeting of the four members, the Beatlemania phenomenon in Britain after their debut, their shocking US dominance and global success, their hiatus from live performances, and the revolution they brought to music production. In the final episode, episode 9, a documentary follows George, Paul, and Ringo as they work on new Beatles songs based on John's remaining compositions, and it's worth noting that it includes a significant amount of previously unreleased footage. In addition to the high-definition remastered video quality, all live and studio audio has been replaced with the latest remasters, and the different mixes are also noteworthy. Optional settings include stereo/5.1 surround sound and the ability to switch between English and Japanese subtitles.
