Live recording of the Wayne Shorter Quartet at the Blue Note Jazz Club in 1996. This audience recording uses a TapeTyrant master, a tapered recording technique that has become increasingly popular in recent years. This excellent sound quality ranks among the best TapeTyrant masters, and even Stargazer, which is known for its generally strict but somewhat honest reviews, gives it its stamp of approval. The slightly ample output has been pushed to its limits. The early show intro begins with Shorter's saxophone, followed by a stage announcement introducing the band. The second show intro begins with just the stage announcement, so it's included as a separate track. Alphonso Johnson, a former Weather Report comrade, plays electric bass, and this excellent title allows you to enjoy the superb performance of this electric band, which also includes synths, in high quality.
