BOSTON's first Japan tour in 35 years, the second night of their 2014 tour, held at the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium on October 4th, is fully captured in a premium quality matrix recording that mixes multiple IEM sources with the original, exquisite audience source.
This release allows you to relive the emotional performance, featuring an incredible setlist that will have you exclaiming, "A True Greatest Hits!", including "Beyond the Universe," "Don't Look Back," and "Amanda!", with astounding sound comparable to a stereo soundboard recording. XAVEL's recording team, who previously stunned fans with the Rolling Stones' Japan tour, delivered a stunning recording of the band's most powerful sound, combining multiple IEM sources with original AUD sources. They delivered a stunning performance on this Boston tour. This means that the various IEM sources used onstage, each with a different mix balance, and the audience source recorded at the front of the arena are expertly mixed down, resulting in a stunning stereo sound that faithfully reproduces the stage positioning, with Tom's guitar on the left channel, Gary's guitar on the right channel, vocals in the center, and drums and bass. The resulting sound is perfectly balanced, rivaling even the Tokyo premiere performance, released simultaneously. This "multi-IEM source + original AUD source" matrix recording, which can be described as a new generation of live recording, is a must-listen if you can find it at a venue where it's available!
If the genius Tom Scholz was the brains and engine of the band, it's already been seven years since the sudden death of the late lead singer Brad Delp, who could be described as the band's face or chassis. With his replacement, Tommy DeCarlo, now fully integrated into the band, the band is in top form, and we are incredibly grateful to Tom & Boston for making their long-awaited visit to Japan a reality and delivering such an incredible performance. The bonus track includes "Walk On" from the sound check that took place before the show began. This is the second commemorative item celebrating their visit to Japan, presented on a beautiful double-sided silver mirror disc that is indistinguishable from a pressed CD, and wrapped in beautiful, elaborate artwork depicting a "spaceship guitar invading Nagoya Castle, located near the Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium"!
