This release features a superb performance by Danny Gatton, a Telecaster master who could arguably be considered on par with Roy Buchanan, captured in high-quality soundboard recording. As the title suggests, it covers a wide range of American music, from country to jazzy. The cover songs, in particular, are outstanding. The vibrant performance of Horace Silver's signature and quintessential song, "Song for My Father," is a must-listen; the solos in each part are light and lively, and the exquisite interplay between guitar and keyboard is sure to bring a smile to your face. Following that is Procol Harum's super-famous song, "A Whiter Shade of Pale."
