Disc 1 captures the secret gig held at the Borderline in London on August 21, 1994, intended for the filming of the "Cigarettes & Alcohol" music video. Ironically, the song itself was never actually performed; however, the show offers an irresistible atmosphere—a quintessential small-town club vibe—featuring a performance at incredibly close quarters, much like the monochrome footage seen in the music video, and even including a scene in a rather sketchy restroom.
Likely with an eye toward shots for the music video, the set opens with an instrumental jam. There is a moment of confusion where it looks like they might play "Cigarettes & Alcohol," only for the intro to "Supersonic" to kick in, before they actually launch into "Listen Up." Even as "Listen Up" gets underway, phrases from "Supersonic" are woven into the mix—a unique and unusual occurrence. Also notable is the inclusion of not just "All The Young Dudes" but also David Bowie's "Changes" during the latter half of "Whatever." Disc 2 features a complete recording of the September 2, 1994, show at Club Gino in Stockholm, Sweden—a date that was part of the "Definitely Maybe Tour." This high-quality DAT recording—which begins with Liam’s languid greeting of "Hello, Sweden"—is a previously unreleased source that has never surfaced until now.

This is a fantastic two-disc set presented by the BAYSWATER label for devoted Oasis fans. Disc 1 contains a complete, high-fidelity recording—unmatched in quality—of the secret gig held on August 21, 1994, at The Borderline in London, which took place during the filming of the "Cigarettes & Alcohol" music video. Disc 2 features a complete recording of the concert held ten days later, on September 2, 1994, at Club Gino in Stockholm—another intimate venue.

Noel was apparently a long-time smoker of Benson & Hedges cigarettes, though he has since quit. The title "Temperance Movement" alludes to the movement advocating for abstinence from alcohol and tobacco. Booze, tears, and rock 'n' roll. Drinking, drinking, getting drunk, and drinking some more—tonight, too, I’ll down a drink and drift off to sleep. This is a high-quality pressed disc set featuring beautiful picture-disc artwork, perfect for your permanent collection.
