Live at Maple Leaf Garden, Toronto, December 2, 1984

The Purple Rain tour, a major milestone for the young Prince, featured a significant number of new songs, unreleased material, and new themes, despite the impressive performances. The tour progressed, experimenting with new styles, which could be considered Prince's experimental field, and this is what piqued fans' interest. This is a representative live performance from the Purple Rain tour! This high-quality audience recording captures the performance at Maple Leaf Garden in Toronto on December 2, 1984. This Toronto performance featured many rare performances, including Prince's piano performance in the first half, where he plays the melody of "Under the Cherry Moon" from the unreleased album "Parade" before segueing into "Free." While the first half is missing, the recording also features a rare piano version of "Take Me With U" and a wonderful piano version of "Dirty Mind," showcasing many rarely heard live versions. The band then joins in for "Do Me Baby," before performing "I Wanna Be Your Lover," a rare performance from the Purple Rain tour, and returning to a more unconventional setlist with Prince's piano as the main focus! The intriguing arrangement of the jam "I Would Die 4 U"/"Baby I'm A Star" is a must-listen, even though it's only about 13 minutes long. Prince's bouncy piano playing makes it a super funky arrangement. And the final track, "Purple Rain," lasts a whopping 21 minutes! The intro will leave you tantalized. While there are still many other great live performances from the Purple Rain tour that remain undiscovered, this one stands out for its exceptional sound quality and as one of the rarest live performances, it's a must-listen and an absolute must-see!
