A live recording featuring the co-led quartet of Sonny Rollins and Don Cherry. This release captures a 1963 performance in Paris via a soundboard recording, utilizing a new master that underwent pitch correction and other adjustments by overseas enthusiasts earlier this year (2026). Naturally, the label did not simply use the fan-made version as-is; it has undergone professional remastering. The low-end frequencies—originally weak—have been significantly bolstered, and the editing between tracks has been refined to further elevate the overall quality. This is truly the latest, upgraded version. The 1960s was an era that saw the rise of spiritual and free jazz; while not to the same extent as John Coltrane, Rollins also displays traces of these influences in his playing. His partner, Don Cherry, was a maverick who would go on to embody not only spiritual and free jazz but also a wide range of world music, transcending the boundaries of the genre. Billy Higgins, a drummer who participated in numerous Blue Note Records sessions, provides a powerful foundation for the quartet's sound.
