This digitally remastered recording of Tower of Power's golden age performance at Winterland on January 28, 1973, is from an official-quality, high-fidelity stereo soundboard master. With Chester Thompson, Bruce Conte, and Lenny Williams joining the band, 1973 marked the strongest lineup in Tower of Power's history. This soundboard live recording from this era, which produced the two masterpiece albums 'Tower of Power' and 'Back to Oakland', can be considered a milestone leading to those two landmark albums. This early 1973 recording is an absolute must-listen for any fan! The album opens with "Check It Out," a song by newly joined Chester, which is the original version that would later be rearranged and become "Squib Cakes"! Just being able to hear this part alone makes this album a must-have for fans. There are some parts where the noise in the left channel due to the master is a little noticeable, but the sound quality itself is incredibly clear with the separation of each instrument being astonishingly perfect, so this album should be very satisfying.
