Live at Osaka-Jo Hall, Osaka, Japan, May 9, 1985
A shocking worldwide debut master has been newly discovered. This is a superb audience recording of the "May 9, 1985: Osaka Castle Hall" performance. This new recording is completely different from previous releases, and yet the sound is intense, ultra-clear, and wonderfully refined. The golden ensemble is crisp in detail, with a natural, finely tuned "ring" that exudes a velvety luster. It's fantastic from the start, and it only gets better as the show progresses. Ritchie Blackmore's guitar and Jon Lord's organ are particularly exquisite. The already mellow Stratocaster sound is further enhanced, and the Hammond sound exudes a vintage '70s vibe. Both are crisp at the touch level, while their vivid melodies sparkle with free-flowing improvisation. While Ritchie seemed a little shy about the first day in Osaka, he really took over on the second day. The performance continued relentlessly, and perhaps encouraged by the band's strong performance, the encore, which was only "Smoke On The Water" the day before, was increased to three songs. At the beginning of "Woman From Tokyo," she sings "My woman from Oussahhhh ♪," making this a miraculous new excavation album where you can enjoy a superb sound with a great performance that is both upbeat and forward-thinking.
