Prince went through a period of prolonged touring, gradually evolving with the Love 4 One Another Charities tour in 1997, followed by the Jam Of The Year tour, with the former clocking in at 21 shows and the latter at a whopping 65. He then toured extensively with the New Power Soul tour in 1998. This release is a CDR of a previously unidentified audience recording from a live performance on the Pure Funk label. Remastered, the result is a truly enjoyable experience. This performance took place in Raleigh on August 18, 1997, marking the first leg of the Jam Of The Year tour. The album features a piano set, rare renditions of "Girls And Boys" and "Delirious." While the first leg typically ends with "Baby I'm A Star" and "1999," this one closes with a medley of hits, including "Kiss," "Cream," "Get Off," and "When Doves Cry." This release also includes a bonus CDR featuring audience recordings from the aftershow! The first half of the set, which featured instrumental tracks, showcased NPG's jazzy side, and concluded with a super funky mix of rare Somebody's Somebody, the precious Taste of Honey's Boogie Oogie Oogie, and Funkadelic's Let's Take It To The Stage and Face Down. It was a fantastic after-show.
