This album certainly aims to be a complete compilation of Prince's recordings, both on vinyl and CD. However, Fun With Vinyl is particular about sound. Played on a Technics SL-1200MK2 record player, the recordings were sent to a Sony PCM-R300 DAT tape player via a Yamaha RX-Z1 audio-video receiver. The audio was then imported to a PC using a Turtle Beach Catalina sound card and Cool Edit Pro software, where it was remastered, including the removal of clicks, and converted to digital WAV files. The sound quality is top-notch. Another groundbreaking feature is the inclusion of edited versions not previously included in the Anthology series, as well as B-sides that were omitted because Prince was not considered to have been involved.

This release includes Sheila E.'s "Paradise Garden," "Save the People," "The World Is High," and "Too Sexy," tracks that are not believed to have been written by Prince. However, these tracks make one suspect that Prince was secretly involved in songwriting and performance, simply not credited.
