This is a soundboard recording from the Worcester concert. This live performance from over 30 years ago has become one of the most iconic live recordings of 2016, but it actually surpasses it with the release of Part 2, a soundboard recording from the Uniondale concert, both leaked simultaneously, both on soundboard. While there are some minor issues with the master recording, the sound quality is clearer and superior to the Worcester performance. The March 20th recording features an incomplete cut of "Purple Rain" during "Baby I'm A Star," but the rare tracks played at the time are included. The opening track is "17 Days," the B-side of "When Doves Cry," with a dynamic and funky arrangement unlike anything I've heard before! The jam in the second half will give you goosebumps. Prince and the Revolution performed "All the Critics Loves In NY" in front of New Yorkers, "Irresistible Bitch" with Wendy's free-flowing cutting, and "Possessed" with Eric's thrilling blow. Prince and the Revolution performed the second half of "When Doves Cry" with incredible energy, even in developments not found in the studio tracks. Listening to it on the soundboard truly captivates. The 23rd recording is fully recorded, and Prince performs "Around the World in a Day," "Condition of the Heart," and "Raspberry Beret," highlighting his recent songs. His solid vocals make him feel as serious as if he were at a public debut. Also, Head, a rare addition to this tour, played a super funky performance despite his hesitation to play "naughty," making it a truly rare performance. And what's even more amazing is that after the all-out closing number, "Purple Rain," they played "America" as an encore! This version emphasizes the wah-wah guitar and cutting more than the music video version, and with the introduction of Brownmark's bass, the performance really pushes forward. The performance is agile and speedy, with Prince hyping up New York and even chanting "My Toy Box." This is truly a special performance, exclusive to this one. And that's not all. Disc 4 contains completely unreleased rehearsal recordings from January 25, 1985. It's incredible. The first half certainly feels like a sound check, but once it's over, they launch into songs that sound like they're practicing for the next leg of the Purple Rain tour. The funky "I Got You" is more Prince-esque than a JB cover, and then they play "The Ladder" with a serious tone. It's a live version I've never heard before, and it might have signaled Prince's intention for an Around the World in a Day tour. And rather than being a cover of Sheila E's version, the performance of Bedtime Story, which truly brings out Prince's signature style, is truly moving! The viscous atmosphere, which is reminiscent of Prince singing, makes you think that this was Prince's peak. And 4Dafunk leaked footage of the Orange Bowl rehearsal on April 7th, but this time it seems to be from a different source, and there are parts that can only be heard here.
