This is the first-ever soundboard recording of RETURN TO FOREVER from the Bill Connors era. It features a digitally remastered recording of a performance held on September 2, 1973, in Lenox, Massachusetts, from a remarkably clear stereo soundboard master. This is a precious live recording of the "second phase of RTF," which successfully established a rock-oriented direction by extensively reintroducing the Fender Rhodes and electric bass, and by bringing in Bill Connors on electric guitar. The tremendous stage performance, which unfolds with the same straightforward sound as the masterpiece album "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy," will strongly appeal to rock fans who are tired of ordinary rock. The gritty performance, which kicks off with the title track and races through to the encore "Game Maker," feels like witnessing a symbolic moment in the fusion movement as it entered its golden age in the 70s.
