The Necromancer series, which reissues rare titles from a handmade label by collectors for collectors that was only distributed in very limited quantities, using officially acquired masters, now features Headless Hawk, a top-tier collector's label in the jazz genre.

This is a live recording by Carlos Santana and John McLaughlin, the Indian-inspired duo. The performance is well-recorded from an audience recording, but there are some parts where the crowd noise is a bit distracting. This title is intriguing simply because it features two great guitarists who have collaborated many times before, but the spiritual inclination of the 70s has subsided and the rock influence is considerably stronger, so even pure rock fans can enjoy the sound of these two great guitarists. Above all, the setlist is magnificent. "Lights Out" from Miles Davis's classic album "Jack Johnson," in which McLaughlin himself participated in the recording, is sure to bring tears to fans' eyes. There are also other numbers by his beloved Coltrane, but the instrumental medley that goes from Bob Dylan's "A Hard Rain's Falling" to Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" is a must-listen.
