This recording captures Joe Perry's solo tour stop at the Florida State Theatre on December 5, 2009, supporting the album *Have Guitar, Will Travel*—his first release in four years following his previous self-titled solo album. Although the album was produced in a remarkably short 47-day period, Joe Perry was extremely satisfied with the result, expressing confidence that the limited timeframe actually infused the music with a unique power. The creative process included featuring a complete amateur from Germany whom he had discovered by chance on a video site, resulting in an overall sound that is rhythmic and high-tempo. The setlist is packed with high-energy tracks; the audience is fired up, and the band delivers a spirited, high-voltage performance. The setlist interweaves solo material with Aerosmith classics, featuring seven tracks from the new album—"We've Got a Long Way to Go," "Slingshot," "Do You Wonder," "Somebody's Gonna Get," "Wooden Ships," "Freedom," and "Dream On." The performance of "Dream On"—included as a Japan-exclusive bonus track on the album—really energizes the crowd. A German vocalist handles the majority of the lead singing, while Joe Perry provides backing vocals and instrumental support, much like the dynamic between him and Steven Tyler in Aerosmith. Joe Perry’s guitar work is flawless; in a word, his playing is simply "cool"—it is truly superb. Listening to this makes me genuinely curious about what a Joe Perry solo concert is like and makes me want to experience it live. Although this is an audience recording, the balance is excellent; there is no muddiness, and while there is slight instability in places, the audio is clear enough to fully enjoy the Joe Perry sound.
