The Necromancer series, which reissues rare titles from a handmade label by collectors for collectors that was only distributed to a very limited number of people, using officially acquired, legitimate masters, now features Headless Hawk, a top-tier collector's label in the jazz genre.
This is a live recording by the trio that bears the name of Lou Reed's infamous and controversial album, "Metal Machine Music." Disc 1, reminiscent of Brian Eno's ambient music, is a "stillness" that suggests something is about to happen. Disc 2 is a "movement" where noisy guitars and freaky saxophones scream through an electric haze. The fact that Lou Reed's music was released on the jazz-oriented "Headless Hawk" label suggests it might have some free jazz influences, or perhaps an ECM-esque feel.
