This is live audio from the very beginning of the Pat Metheny Group's "THE WAY UP" tour. While this is the first time this audio has been released, the master recording sounded thin and unusable. However, after extreme equalization during remastering, it has been transformed into "high-quality" audio. The applause between songs was quite distracting, so it has been edited out. The fade-in in "LONE JACK" is due to the beginning being cut off during a tape change during recording. The popular song "ARE YOU GOING WITH ME?", which usually begins with a simple snare drum fill, starts with an exotic intro featuring Metheny's signature Picasso guitar, then builds up with a saxophone phrase, creating an overwhelmingly cool and impressive sound that is a must-listen.
