This is a recording of the aftershow from the New Power Soul Tour, a rare period when Prince performed live with legendary figures like Larry Graham and Chaka Khan. The recording captures the club atmosphere with incredible realism and a fantastic soundboard recording! A title that will send Prince fans into a frenzy! It's described as "Prince and Friends," but at this time Prince was still using a strange symbol for his name, and his relationship with his wife, Mayte, was becoming strained—a rather turbulent period. However, the live performance itself is simply amazing! Prince plays guitar on P-Funk's "Flash Light," a cover of a Sly & the Family Stone classic, and Chaka Khan's hit song. He even sings during rapper Doug E Fresh's segment, so even though he's behind the scenes, he has a very strong presence. In short, I don't think an aftershow has ever been released with such superb soundboard quality before.
