This release features the final performance of the 2013 Japan tour, April 6, in support of "This Is PiL," their first studio album in 20 years. This stunning, ultra-high-quality recording features 24-bit digital remastering of the original, high-quality audience master from the XAVEL label, delivering a flawless live sound that rivals that of an official live recording. This highly recommended release offers a truly exceptional sound experience.
From tracks from the monumental "Metal Box" to their latest album, "This is PiL," the diverse setlist seemed to sum up PiL's 35-year history. It was hard to believe the concert was held under martial law due to the approaching cyclone, but the band and passionate audience, full of 120% energy, created a truly spectacular live act that was well worth listening to.
John Lydon is a rare artist who is completely natural and unpretentious, yet possesses the depth of mind to sing "Death Disco" with the same emotion he had over 30 years ago. His supporting band members are also an all-star cast, including former The Damned guitarist Lu Edmonds, POP GROUP drummer Bruce Smith, and talented bassist Scott Firth, who has worked with a wide range of artists, from Steve Winwood to Elvis Costello and the Spice Girls. The entire band worked together to deliver a performance that rivaled only the legendary "Metal Box" lineup. The bonus tracks include three additional songs from the live performance held at the same venue the previous day (April 5th): "Death Disco (Swan Lake)," "(This Is Not A) Love Song," and "Public Image."
