Here is an ultra-rare live recording of The Rich Kids, a band that retains a devoted following within the early UK punk scene. The band was formed by bassist Glen Matlock—the group's core figure—who had left the Sex Pistols (almost certainly due to a falling out with Lydon); notably, the project had been in the works behind the scenes during his final days with the Pistols. Although he turned down an invitation to join The Clash in favor of committing to The Rich Kids, this specific recording captures the band in its absolute infancy—featuring Mick Jones performing as a supporting member—making it an incredibly rare find. For fans, this recording is a mouth-watering treasure that offers a glimpse into the birth of the band at a time when their repertoire was still limited. Matlock’s bass playing is impressive, showcasing his exceptional musical taste; the set even includes a cover of a Small Faces song. The tracklist comprises five originals and three covers, featuring songs by Dave Berry, Tommy James & the Shondells, and the Sex Pistols. Guitarist Steve New would later go on to join PiL (Public Image Ltd), the band fronted by Lydon.
