This recording is from a soundboard recording of a performance at Cotati Cabaret, California, on August 4th, 1984, in his hometown. The backing band includes Ry Cooder's producer and singer-songwriter Van Dyke Parks, the talented singer Bobby King, and Jim Keltner (who would later form Little Village with Nick Lowe in 1991) on drums, making this a very valuable recording. While he transitioned to film music and roots music after the 1980s, this live performance showcases his masterful slide guitar skills.
