A complete recording of Steve Gadd & Friends' Tokyo performance on September 1, 2008, captured in superb original audience recording quality.
The band delivered a sublime performance featuring Ronnie Cuber, a longtime friend from the Gadd Gang days, Hammond organ prodigy Joey DeFrancesco, and his bandmate Paul Bollenback. From the opening Gadd Gang classic "Things Ain't What They Used To Be," the band's energy was at its peak. From Ronnie Cuber's "Flamingo," to Joey's wonderfully soothing organ sound on "Way Back Home," to the incredible groove of the uptempo "Them Changes," to Ronnie Cuber's soaring baritone saxophone on the classic "Caravan," and finally to the encore "Back at the Chicken Shack," they delivered a truly breathtaking and magnificent performance.
The band's unified and masterful control of tempo and dynamics created an incredibly luxurious soundscape, and the ample solo time provided in each song was simply awe-inspiring! This highly recommended item allows you to relive the excitement of the final day with top-notch sound quality that perfectly captures the palpable energy of the venue, as if it were vacuum-sealed!
