6. THE GREAT CURVE
This release captures the Nagoya performance from Talking Heads' second tour of Japan. Although it is an audience recording, the sound quality ranks among the very best of the audience tapes from the *Remain in Light* tour (1980–1981). *Remain in Light*—their greatest masterpiece—was an album where the seeds of Afrobeat were planted in punk soil, cultivated by Brian Eno, and harvested by Talking Heads. The lineup during this period was formidable, featuring powerhouses like Bernie Worrell and Adrian Belew; the mere roster of musicians is enough to get you excited. Belew, in particular, was in high demand at the time, working with Frank Zappa, David Bowie, and King Crimson; this tour marked the only time he was part of the band. From the opening track, "Psycho Killer," his signature "elephant guitar" sound explodes.
