The CD includes "Live at the Empire/It's the Beatles," a rare soundboard recording originally broadcast in the UK as a triumphant return performance in their hometown of Liverpool in December 1963. This newly unearthed recording, newly upgraded for the highest quality sound ever, has attracted collectors worldwide. Unlike previous versions, the ending fades out with a DJ voice, but a longer version without a DJ and featuring an ad-libbed version of the "Third Man" theme has also been added. The following "Royal Variety Performance" also features the longest version, including the opening and closing sequences, newly remastered. "Bournemouth Live Report" is a radio show showcasing a rare live performance recorded at the time, featuring rare setlists such as "A Taste of Honey" and "Baby It's You." "Mersey Sound" and "Sunday Night at the London Palladium" are also valuable recordings from the original broadcasts. The DVD is a documentary of the early Beatles' career in the UK since their debut. While only the second half of "Live at the Empire" is included, it's presented for the first time in the highest quality ever, featuring newly discovered audio and newly restored footage. The "Royal Variety Performance" and "Morecambe and Wise Show" are also included in their longest versions, just like the audio recordings. Also included are the earliest live color footage of "The Beatles Come to Town" and "Late Night Extra," as well as the first TV documentary capturing the early Beatles, "Mersey Sound," in their best-quality complete versions. Additionally, various edited versions of alternate footage of "Live at the Empire/It's the Beatles" have been added. This is the definitive 2018 collector's edition of the live anthology, bringing together live audio and TV footage from the UK just before their first US tour.
