The annual May tradition, Tower of Power!
This recording captures the Tokyo performance held in mid-May 2010, in superb sound quality thanks to 24-bit digital remastering of the Wildlife label's original audience master!
For this Japan tour, trumpeter Mic Gillette, who was a core member of the horn section during their golden age in the 70s, has returned, and many fans were undoubtedly unable to contain their excitement leading up to the day of the concert.
The show began with the sound effects of "Oakland Zone," followed by the intro to "Soul Vaccination," and then launched into a familiar Stroke medley, continuing at a furious pace all the way to "Only So Much Oil In the Ground."
After getting the audience dancing with their signature songs, the set concluded with "Walkin' Up Hip Street," the final track from 'Urban Renewal.' Roger Smith's exhilarating solo in this song, with its more refined arrangement, is a must-listen.
