A must-see video for fans has arrived, featuring a coupling of Wayne Shorter's old and new pro-shot footage in official-quality. The first half captures his performance at Jazzbaltica in Germany on July 7, 2002, where he led his regular quartet and performed with the NDR Big Band. The powerful rhythm section of Brian Blade and John Patitucci, Danilo Perez's piano with its distinctive percussive approach, and Shorter's commanding playing can all be heard on the official CD, which features excerpts from this tour, but seeing it on video is a truly moving experience. The big band arrangements interspersed throughout are also quite stylish, adding a delightful spice to the sound of the quartet, which is considered one of the finest in acoustic jazz. The second half features live footage from the Leverkusen Jazztage concert held in Germany on October 12, 1990. Opening with "Footprints," the concert features Jim Beard, Lenny Castro, and other guests, creating a sublime performance. As this is a rare live show from a period when he wasn't actively involved in major projects, it's a must-see for fans.
