Prince's first live performance of 2013, showcasing a new side to him, was held at the Dakota Club in his hometown of Minneapolis, where he performed two sets over three consecutive days, a total of six marathon performances. This recording captures the ultimate audience experience, making you feel as if you were there! Vol. 1 (4 CDR) Dakota Part 1 begins with a cool instrumental jazz live performance on the first day, January 16, 2013. It also features Ronald Bruner Jr.'s outstanding jazz drumming, replacing John Blackwell, the finally performed live version of Xpectation, a cool arrangement of an instrumental version of "Muse 2: The Pharaoh" from the ONA tour, and the traditional jazz number "Second Line." Line and Andy Allo's numbers are performed in jazz-funk, and you can also hear Stratus, which was previously incomplete despite soundboard recordings. Andrew Gauche's throbbing bass is incredible! The presence of the NPG Horns delivers the authentic jazz that the real Prince wanted to play. The arrangements for both the early and late shows are different, so it's worth comparing them to explore the differences. Bonus recordings include soundboard recordings from that day.

Then on the 17th is a funk set, featuring the latest funk version of Act Of God, which finally takes shape. The Days Of Wild medley is a more substantial performance featuring saxophone! Northside, singing with Shelby and others, takes a new approach with its mysterious funky keyboard sounds, and features the Jackson 5's Dancing Machine, also sung by Prince! And then there's the new song Chpater & Verse! There is a soundboard, but it's incomplete, so here you can listen to the complete Prince funk created by this scat! As expected, there were two sets on the second day, both with different arrangements and song selections, but both have the same amazing current Prince and NPG sound! And as a bonus, a soundboard of the new song Chapter & Verse, played on the same day, is included.
