1999 Tour Finale, Pavilion @ University Of Illinois, Chicago, April 10, 1983

A new master recording of the final live performance of the 1999 tour, held at the University of Illinois Pavilion in Chicago on April 10, 1983, has arrived! Previous releases have suffered from hiss and skips, likely due to repeated dubbing, and the sound quality was far from praiseworthy. This Pure Funk recording was mastered from the original tapes, likely obtained from the original recorder, resulting in a vastly improved sound quality! This was Prince's last live performance with Dez Dickerson's band. Perhaps reflecting his sadness at the loss of another member of Prince's early lineup, he plays "Free" less and more wistfully. However, since this was his final live performance, he plays a compilation of his work to date, particularly the three wonderful tracks D.M.S.R., Sexuality, and "Let's Pretend We're Married" in one live performance, resulting in a longer show than ever before. He also plays the rare "Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)"! This is the last of the 1999 tour, and with the improved sound quality, it is the last and best show!
