Here is an FM broadcast recording of the final concert in Sweden by Sham 69—led by UK working-class hero Jimmy Pursey—before their initial hiatus. Known for their sing-along style and frequent chart success, the band is defined by the commanding presence of Pursey, whose impassioned, full-throated vocal performance is truly spectacular.
The band was constantly embroiled in conflicts with the National Front. Although they sang of youth unity in "If The Kids Are United," Pursey's hopes were ultimately dashed; it is a tragic irony that they disbanded due to a riot breaking out among the audience.
